The Holiday Open House is one of Bemus Point’s favorite events of the year. The village’s locally owned stores and restaurants will be showcasing seasonal specials and sales to help customers get in the holiday spirit. Families will also have the chance to meet and take photos with Santa and his reindeer, Dancer. Holiday shopping takes center stage during the Holiday Open House. It’s the once-a-year chance for customers to get 20% off every item in every store (Some stores may have a few exceptions).
Bemus Bay Children’s Shoppe, Bemus Point Pottery, Lakeside Cottage Shoppe, Petals & Twigs, Re-Imagine, Skillmans and The Ugly Peacock will all be participating. Customers will enjoy personal customer service, complimentary gift wrapping, great holiday gifts, winter apparel, decorating ideas, treats and more!
Every store is discounting their customer’s favorite items! At Bemus Bay Children’s Shoppe you’ll find the perfect book or toy for the special child in your life, along with adorable fall apparel for infants & children and new advent calendars. Custom order your holiday wreaths and arrangements at Petals & Twigs, then pick up perfect stocking stuffers, like their best-selling Chautauqua Lake ornaments as well as fall handbags and scarves. Shoppers visiting Bemus Point Pottery will be treated to 20% off customer favorites, including the New York Times best-selling book, “Christmas Wish,” illuminated wine gift boxes, doll ornaments and specialty pet gifts.
Lakeside Cottage Shoppe will be open, weather permitting, with almost all merchandise at 50% off, and up to 60% off on additional select items. Sunday will be their last day before re-opening in the spring of 2018 with all new collections. Be sure to visit The Ugly Peacock for their wonderful Capri Blue candles, Greenwich Bay soaps and lotions, Michel Design Room Sprays, Milkhouse candles and Blue Q socks. Skillmans will be offering 20% off nearly everything on all 3 floors of their entire store. Customers will find that well-known brands, including Nic + Zoe, Tribal, Sperry, Toms, Hobo Handbags, Lysse Leggings, and Barefoot Dreams will all be 20% off. Cashmere ponchos, sweaters and shawls, artisan jewelry, accessories, home furnishings (including all furniture, lamps, rugs, pillows and throws), Chautauqua Lake maps, gifts and apparel, as well as gourmet cookbooks and foods will all be included in the sale at Skillmans.

Hand-painted signs made by new owners, Angie Lipari and Brenda Gernatt, are also included in this special weekend sale. During the Holiday Open House patrons will be able to enjoy delicious meals, drinks and desserts at these village establishments: Bemus Point Inn Restaurant, Bemus Point Market, Ellicottville Brewing on Chautauqua, Guppy’s Tavern, The See-Zurh House and Wired on Main.
Each restaurant has prepared festive specials for the occasion. Start off the day with sausage gravy and biscuits with eggs and homefries at the Bemus Point Inn Restaurant. Shoppers visiting the Bemus Point Market can grab a warm cup of coffee, seasonal ice cream cone, or a homemade pie to take home and enjoy.
Guppy’s Tavern will be serving jagerschnitzel: breaded pork with a creamy homemade mushroom gravy served over fresh spatzels and served with a warm cranberry maple chutney. You can also enjoy a cranberry Moscow mule in a custom Guppy’s Mug, which makes for a great Christmas gift!
The See-Zurh House will be offering a delicious special of pork medallions with an apricot glaze. Diners will also be able to sip on a glass of poinsettia punch and enjoy a dessert of peppermint cheesecake. Ellicottville Brewing on Chautauqua is offering their 2017 special: enjoy an appetizer, an entrée and a pint of beer for just $20.17! For those craving something sweet, Gina Sena, of Short & Sweet, will be selling her delectable treats and confections at Skillmans.
While visiting the village, be sure to visit the Bemus Point Historical Society’s Open House on Saturday from 10-4. Support the Bemus Point Fire Department during their pancake breakfast on Sunday from 7-Noon. Enjoy live music from Katie & Jesse at Ellicottville Brewing on Chautauqua on Saturday from 1-4.
Santa Claus and his live reindeer, Dancer, will on Alburtus Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from 10-4. It’s the perfect time for visitors to take adorable photos for family Christmas cards! Children will also be able to enjoy a special Holiday Story Time at the Bemus Point Library, Saturday from 11-Noon.
